Easter Garland Workshop
This workshop led by Vivienne Brophy, Airfield Estate’s collaborating florist, will provide you with the skills required to create your own Easter door floral decoration to take home. All decorative foliage and florals used will be sourced from Airfield Estate’s organically grown gardens.
Refreshments will be provided during the demonstration, and your ticket includes entry to Airfield Estate for the duration of the afternoon should you choose to explore the gardens following the workshop.
Details
The event will begin at 10am at Airfield Estate with Vivienne Brophy demonstrating the creation of an Easterdoor swag. During the demonstration, coffee/tea and pastries will be provided. You will then dive into creating your very ownswag, using florals and foliage from the fields, herbaceous boarders, and cutting beds in Airfield Estate.
During the workshop, you will learn the following skills:
– Selection, quantity and conditioning of foliage
– Building length with wire techniques
– Finishing and maintenance
About Sustainable Floristry
Our floristry classes at Airfield Estate are designed to provide guidance in making sustainable and creative choices when designing seasonal arrangements of foliage and blooms. Course leader Vivienne Brophy is dedicated to applying the sustainable principle of ‘less is more’ to floristry. Throughout the workshop, advice will be provided on sustainable foraging, and sustainable floral and foliage selection.
About your Instructor
Vivienne Brophy, architect and florist, collaborates with Airfield Estate in the demonstration and teaching of sustainable floral design principles. Working alongside Airfield Estate’s garden team, and utilising their seasonal and organically grown spring bulbs, summer flowers, autumn seed heads and dried winter foliage as the basis for her floral displays. Inspired by a career researching and lecturing on architectural sustainability in UCD, Vivienne is dedicated to applying the sustainable principle of ‘less is more’ to floristry. She undertook the career floristry course in McQueens Flower School London.
