Escape & Discover Welcome to Airfield, as you will see from our calendar of events there are many scheduled programmes for you to participate in, however if you come to Airfield outside of these what can you expect to see and do?

The main attraction of Airfield is that we are Dublin’s only working farm in Dublin, on our 35 acre estate you will be able to see our Jersey herd of cattle, our 50+ flock of sheep, chickens, geese, goats, donkeys, pigs and miniature horses. Walking around the farm will give you a real sense of being in the country; it’s a true escape from the noise and hurry of the city that surrounds.

Framing our farm experience is the beautiful ornamental gardens at Airfield, take a walk through the walled garden, or visit our allotments. Wednesday is gardening day at Airfield and if you are interested in meeting the gardening team come along at 2pm to ask any gardening questions you may have.

By coming to Airfield you are entering the former home of the Overend Family, their house has been transformed into a welcoming café, where the fresh food served is home made on site every day. We recently were voted no.3 best scones in Dublin by the Irish Independent, so tea/coffee and scones should be a must do on your trip to Airfield.

Having refreshed yourself in the café, don’t forget to visit the car display. The Overend Family were avid car enthusiasts and always had an array of cars on the estate. Today you can see Letitia’s famous Rolls Royce 20 which is one of Ireland’s most famous vintage cars. Naomi’s 1936 Austin Tickford is on view as is the Peugeout driven by Lily Overend, Letitia and Naomi’s mother.

The shop at Airfield has a wide range of household and gift items and during the summer has plant sales.

New attractions on site are our new pond at the lower end of the estate and our allotment area where you can see the Airfield’s staff vegetable gardens.

Airfield in the Autumn

We continue with our popular ‘Family Sunday’ activities through the Autumn and Winter. Every Sunday your family can participate in a farming, gardening or art related activity. We have some very special things planned for you again this season with the chance to make winter food for birds and help the gardeners plant some of the thousands of bulbs that will create a wonderful array of colour in Spring. You can help create an ‘insect hotel’ and make an exciting festive border for our Christmas garden. View our Autumn programme
